Norco BMZ Batteries

Norco’s Gen 3 VLT Electric Mountain Bikes all share the same Norco BMZ Batteries, made from future proof 21700 lithium-ion cells for maximum energy density to let you custom choose your capacity.

540Wh – The lighter weight is perfect if you want to get out and burn some fast laps before sundown and have less of a concern for maximizing your range.

720Wh – The 720Wh provides 33% more range than the 540Wh and weighs in at just 3880 grams. The mid-weight battery strikes a balance between battery capacity and weight if you’re considering a longer, faster ride, but aren’t 100% committed to an all-out remote backwoods excursion.

900Wh – The 900Wh provides 66% more range than the 540Wh and weighs in at 4570 grams. The highest capacity E-MTB battery available, this 900Wh monster obliterates range anxiety, and is perfect if you’re looking for longer, faster adventures.

Norco has come up with a system that allows you to run a 540, 720 or 900 watt-hour battery in the same frame. In fact, the battery is sold separately at point of sale, so choose wisely. Unlike the previous generation VLT models, there’s no external Range Extender available, but do the math and you’ll see why not. That range extender used to add 360wh to the 630wh battery spec’d on top-end gen-2 VLT models. That was a little more than the 900wh battery available on the new VLT bikes, but it weighed a lot more. Nearly 2,000 grams.

And of course, you can go lighter. The 900wh battery itself weighs 4570g, but if weight is a priority, the 540wh battery is just 3190g. Between the two is the 720wh option at 3880g, which is a similar weight to Norco’s previous generation 630wh battery.
